Story

Session 1: Our top 30-40 students will be divided into 2 groups of 15-20. Each group will then attend a classroom-style workshop covering details of the competition and informing students on the mentorship schedule, assigning a relevant choice of mentors, while covering topics like business plan writing, financing options, and value propositions

Session 2: The students will be divided into 10 groups of 3-4 and will attend a 1-hour 1-on-1 session with an expert. (Individual groups). Within this session students will present a new or existing business idea to their mentor to develop their idea into a proper business plan while getting access to mentors support, constructive feedback, and a thorough evaluation on the initial pitch.

Session 3: During this session, which will be held in the same format as session 2, each group will present (for a final time) the mock pitch deck to their assigned mentor. This follow up session aims to give participating group the chance to ask questions and implement final changes to improve their business model into a more competitive candidate in preparation for the demo day.

On this day, the 10 individual groups will have around 10 minutes to pitch their start-up idea and business plans to a panel of 4 judges (consisting of Gemini Africa’s CEO, 2 successful entrepreneurs and 2 of the university’s professors), who will evaluate and rate the pitches, while offering constructive feedback to all groups.
